The Aberdeen & Shire Schools Regatta for the Blue Toon Cup was held at Peterhead Lido recently.

A total of 26 boats divided between Topper class of 18 and a General handicap class with eight managed to complete four races out of five in very variable and at times difficult conditions.

Organisers were delighted to see entries from six Aberdeenshire primary schools with the top-placed primary school being represented by Benjamin Dougal for Buchanhaven Primary - well done Benjamin.

There was also one entry from Peterhead’s Anna Ritchie School and very well done Nathan for taking part in this event.

Teams from eightAberdeen City and Shire secondary schools took part and the top placed secondary school and overall winner of the Blue Toon Trophy, was Robert Gordon College represented by Rory Rose, Gina Murdoch and Euan Smith.

Individual prizes were also awarded in both classes as follows:

In the Topper Class Euan Smith of Robert Gordon’s College took sixth place, Magnus Dixon for Ellon Academy fifth, Iona Helyer for Peterhead Academy fourth, Mhari Orr for Cults Academy third, Felix Wilson for Alford Academy second and Reuben Roberston for Inverurie Academy took first place.

In the General Handicap Class Jamie and Fergus Rodgers representing Meldrum Academy in their RS Feva took third place, Tom Reeve representing Kemnay Academy and sailing a Laser Radial took second place and Rory Rose of Robert Gordon’s College took first place in his Optimist.
