Blue Toon boxing event hailed a success

A Peterhead boxing club held a fundraising event in the town’s Rescue Hall recently.

Peterhead Boxing Club ABC held the special tournament event in aid of Anna Ritchie School and Willowbank Day Centre.

The event featured 15 to 20 boxing matches, with approximately 20 of the club’s 40 members taking part over three hours.

As well as the main sporting event, a number of other attractions were included in the programme, with raffles, fancy skipping, face painting, kung fu fighters, Highland dancing, waxing and an auction also taking place during the evening.

Commenting on the event, organiser Neil Ross said: “We are pleased with the how the event went. We raised £270 for Anna Ritchie School and the Willowbank centre. It was a busy event with lots going on.

“The event wasn’t open to outside competitors, everyone who took part was from Peterhead Boxing Club ABC.

“We would like to thank everyone who donated raffles and who came along and supported us on the night, in particular, Iceland and Morrisons who donated juice, crisps and snacks for the event. We would also like to thank ABC Boxing for supplying the ring”.

Mr Ross, who works for De-holmn Seafoods in Peterhead, added: “This is the second event we have put on and we are hoping to make this an annual event for different charities”.

Last year Peterhead Boxing Club ABC raised money for the Peterhead Maternity Unit.
