Weekend Cup and League action for Welfare sides

In the Deejays Nightclub League, leaders Clinton Thistle faced Bellslea and the home side opened the scoring on 25 minutes with a powerful header from Martin Atkinhead.

A header from Shaun Sim drew Bellslea level. The home side regained the lead on 80 minutes y from another corner Stuart Fowlie poked home.

Minutes later Simon Whyte made it 3-1 before goal of the game came from a 25-yard strike from Neil Holland.

Panasonic faced Balmoor and the home side went in front with a goal from Kevin Norris. The away side bounced back and went on to score four goals to take the win.

St Combs faced Mintlaw FC and once again the home side saw defeat at the hands of Mintlaw by 3-0/

New Deer faced Faithlie and took the lead on three minutes with a 20-yard drive from Nickolas Shewan.

Andrew Reid squared the match before Matthew Garden put the visitors 2-1 ahead and Daniel Reid made it 3-1.

Damien Duncan calmly shot past Coyle, but George Heatherwick headed home to level. Chris Grieve put the away side ahead once more before Michael Rhynd levelled again.

Broadie gave New Deer the lead with a shot from the edge of the box, but Faithlie player Danny Reid levelled with two minutes left before a Karl Noble header gave the away side all three points.

In the Soccerworld Scotland League, Ardallie faced Cuminestown and the away side won by 7-2.

Longside Thistle faced Elizabethan Link Up and the away side managed to pull off a fine win by 5-4 keeping up their league challenge.

Methlick faced Peterhead Utd and the away side went on to win by 6-3.

Longside Thistle entertained Mormond Thistle and it finished with the home side running out winners by 4-2.

Invercairn United regained top spot after they defeated Buchanhaven FC by 6-0.

In the Terry Sutton Memorial Cup quarter-final, Faithlie Utd faced Invercairn Utd. It was the away side that took the lead with a goal from Jordan Gauld. The home side hit back with a Mark Ferguson header and then the winner came from a 25-yard screamer from Matthew Garden.

Mintlaw faced Panasonic and the home side went in front on 11 minutes. It stayed that way until the 57 minutes when a Kevin Norris header found the opposing corner of the net. As the tie was heading for extra time a ball into the home penalty area was not cleared and the ball fell at the feet of Ryan Duncan to give the away side a place in the semis.
