IN the Elizabethan lounge Cup final, the first chance of the match fell to Clinton when they were awarded a free kick 30 yards out.
Scot Milne hit a fierce shot but Simpson in the Pitsligo goal pushed over the bar. At the other end a Michael Stephen shot from the edge of the box needed a good save by Stewart.
A good move by Clinton when Noble played a 1-2 with Buchan then he played in Simon Whyte whose shot went narrowly past the post.
A Noble hit from distance was easily saved by Simpson. M Stephen played in McCluskey but his shot was miss hit and easily cleared. Whyte did well on the right and fired in a dangerous cross along the six-yard box but there were no takers.
Christie had a great chance to give Pitsligo the lead when he was played in on goal but his weak shot was gathered by Stewart.
Pitsligo took the lead when M. Stephen fired in a cross and McCluskey got across at the front post to shoot home the opener.
Buchan had a glorious chance to get Clinton back on level terms but his shot from six yards went over the bar. McCluskey came close in the last minute of the first half when his shot went close.
M. Stephen came close with a volley from 20 yards at the start of the second half. Fraser also had a shot from distance go close to doubling the Pitsligo lead.
M. Stephen did well on the edge of the Clinton box when he turned his marker and fired a left foot shot just wide of the post.
A Scott Milne corner was swung across and Smith out-jumped the Pitsligo defence but couldn’t keep his header on target.
On 55 minutes Pitsligo doubled their lead when M. Fraser did well on the left and cut back his cross to Christie who fired home 2-0.
Two minutes later Clinton pulled a goal back when Scott Milne collected the ball out on the right and beat three players and fired high into the net.
On 72 minutes it was all square after Milne beat Wisley out on the right and crossed for Matthew Cowe to score at the back post.
With Clinton on the front foot Milne was played in on the left and his shot was brilliantly saved by Simpson.
With ten minutes remaining Clinton were reduced to ten men after an off-the-ball incident resulted in M. Aitkenhead being sent off and Pitsligo were awarded a penalty which M. Fraser shot into the corner of the net.
On 82 minutes Michael Fraser went down the left and fired a shot low into the corner of the net to make it 4-2.
Three minutes later Pitsligo were reduced to ten men when K. Duncan was adjudged to have handled on the goal line and Clinton were awarded a penalty which Fowlie scored.
M. Stephen made a good break on the left and played in G. Stephen whose shot was saved by Stewart.
This was a game which came to life in the second half and Clinton did well to get back on level terms but the game changed when Pitsligo were awarded a penalty and Clinton were reduced to ten men.
Scott Milne was outstanding for Clinton and also Michael Stephen for New Pitsligo.
