Jamie Stevenson and Nathan Ross grabbed the goals as Peterhead saw off Montrose in a pre-season clash.

Paul Hegarty’s squad featured a large number of trialists while the Blue Toon named a full complement of named players.

The visitors were dominant in the opening stages but Montrose could have had an early penalty when Declan Milne was felled inside the box, though the referee gave nothing.

Stevenson hit the opener in the 12th minute in typical fashion, curling a delightful free kick beyond the wall and in at Allan Fleming’s left hand post.

Ross McCord and Paul Watson both forced saves from Graeme Smith before Trialist 10 volleyed wide.

There was a procession of substitutions in the second half and very little happened in the way of clear chances, until Ross was able to head the ball beyond sub goalie Jordan Millar in the 63rd minute.
