Plenty of goals for Welfare sides

In the Scottish Cup Quarter Final, Invercairn United entertained Cup holders Clinton Thistle and a close game was expected.

It was goalless at half time but the home side took control in the second half with goals from James Gibb and Andrew Whyte to take a two-goal lead.

Although the away side pulled one goal back through Shaun Sim, it was too late in the game and Invercairn United go through to the semis.

In the Gordon Leask Memorial Cup Group 1, New Deer faced Elizabethan Link Up. The visitors went in front early on, the home side hit back with four goals before the interval. Ryan Donnell and Andrew Fowlie added another 2 in the second half.

Longside Thistle faced Peterhead Utd and the home side went in front through Josh McCrae, the visitors hit back through Chris Reid then a penalty

McRae levelled the score before half time then in the second half Duncan Fraser put the home side ahead but in the dying minutes Andrew Norris popped up to level the match. In Group 2, New Pitsligo faced Balmoor and in a high scoring game the home side won by 7 goas to 3. Group 2 also saw Panasonic face Cuminestown and this one ended with a home win.

In Group 4, Mintlaw FC faced Mormond Thistle and in another tight game the away side went on to win by the odd goal in three. Methlick faced Buchanhaven and in a tight game it was the home side that also won by the odd goal in three.
