Popular loanee Reece Donaldson will return to Peterhead after being released by Ramsdens Cup winners Raith Rovers.

The 20-year-old defender spent the winter on loan at Balmoor and when his contract was not renewed by The Rovers he was adamant that Balmoor was where he wanted to be.

McInally said: “He’s a free agent. He phoned me on Friday to say he’s been released and he’d like to come to us.

“I did ask him if he’d like to spend some time looking for a full-time contract but he said no.”

Donaldson proved popular during his seven-game spell, scoring a goal in the 3-1 win againt Clyde and twice being named man of the match.
