Despite reports to the contrary, injured forward will not be going out on loan to a junior side to get game time before he returns for the run in.

Manager Jim McInally had hoped to send the former Alloa man, who turned 25 this week, on an emergency loan deal but the SPFL has clarified that should he go out and play, he would be ineligible to return to Balmoor this year.

Cox himself is eager to make an impact before the final day but recognises it will be hard to break back into the first team.

In the 1-1 clash with Berwick at Balmoor back in October Cox landed awkwardly from an aerial challenge and fractured his fifth metatarsal.

He underwent surgery to pin the bone in January and is ready to return.
