WITH second place Longside having a free week, Buchan Welfare League laders Phd Pensioners had the chance to increase their lead at the top of the table when they played host to Cruden Bay.
It took until the 27 minute when John Ross put the home side ahead. Five minutes later it was all-square after Bay were awarded a penalty which George Webster scored.
Ross got his second before half time and goals from Kevin Hendry and Graeme Wood in the second half completed a 4-1 win for the Pensioners.
Harbour Lights faced Cuminestown and the match ended with a win for the away side by 4-2.
Methlick had Mambos as their opponents and it ended all square in a 2-2 draw. Mambos keeper Watson continues to shine in goals with another fine display.
Ardallie were facing neighbours Hatton and it was the away side that collected all three points with a fine 6-1 win.

Hatton continued their fine form of late against Cuminestown in a high-scoring match which the home side ran out winners by 6-5.
In the League Cup semi-final, Phd Pensioners were up against Cruden Bay for the second time in four days but this time a place in the final was up for grabs.

In the first round of the Cuminestown Cup, Methlick had Longside as opponents and the visitors were on top from the start with shots by Davidson and Geddes going just wide of the post.
Anderson gave the away side the lead with a shot from the outside of his foot which looped over Burnett in the home goal. A Craig Stephen free kick was floated to the back post where Begley headed home for Longside’s second. A French shot was well saved by the visitor’s keeper Turriff.
Ewan Little added a third for Longside from a Davidson cross. R. McSeveney was unlucky with a chip shot but it came back off the bar. Methlick nearly pulled a goal back when a through ball took a wicked bounce which Turriff did well to push over the bar.
Lidgerwood should have scored for Methlick but he shot straight at Turriff from close range. Turriff made a smart save from a French free kick at the edge of the box. Longside got a fourth when R. McSeveney swung in a corner and an Anderson header was well saved by Burnett but it fell to Davidson who completed the scoring.
