Banchory St. Ternan were the visitors at Maud at the weekend. The home side took the lead on ten minutes when a Conway cross was met by Luke Barber who fired home.

On 18 minutes it was 2-0 when a fantastic cross by Alexander found Chalmers to score at the back post.

The visitors earned two corners in quick succession which were dealt with by Kirk and Robertson.

On 33 minutes Banchory pulled a goal back after some slack defending let in Napier who rounded the home keeper and fire into an empty net.

Maud hit back and earned a free-kick 25 yards out and James Duguid stepped up and curled the ball over the wall into the top corner of the net.

Just before half time Maud scored another when Barbour controlled the ball on the half way line and played Alexander down the left and his cross was met by the in-rushing Barbour who made no mistake with his header.

Maud made a change on 65 minutes when Bain replaced Duguid.

It was soon 5 -1 to Maud when Bain fed Barbour and he made no mistake with his finish for him to get his hatrick.

Maud hit a sixth when Conway collected the ball on the right just inside the box and his shot flew past the helpless McIntosh in the away goal. Maud made another change with Simpson replacing Rae.

Banchory did get another goal when they were awarded a penalty which Close fired into the bottom corner of the net.

This was a good team performance and they played some excellent football. Maud now face Stonehaven for a chance to get into another final.

Maud’s next fixture is home against Culter in a PMAC Superleague match on Saturday, April 19, with a 2pm kick-off.
