EAST END 5

LONGSIDE 2

Longside travelled to Aberdeen on Saturday to play East End in the PMAC group First Division East.

The visitors started well with Butcher and Ramsay going close in the early stages and forcing home keeper Fraser to make two fine saves.

Reid at the other end got himself into a good position but he sent his angled shot wide.

Jamieson tried a shot from 25 yards but his strike was straight at the keeper.

Steele got on the end of a Ramsay pass but again Fraser was in top form to keep the ball out.

The Longside pressure paid off in 27 minutes when a Ramsay pass was played into the path of Sean Butcher by Davidson and he scored easily.

Two minutes later Butcher doubled his tally with Ramsay again the provider.

A superb strike from Davidson crashed off the bar with Fraser well beaten.

Reid was again the main threat up front for East End and he tried a shot from the edge of the box but McGarva saved well. Another good run from Ramsay saw his cross well left by Jamieson but the home defence scrambled the ball clear with Butcher waiting to pounce.

Following a Ramsay corner, Davidson and Butcher had shots blocked before the ball was cleared.

Minutes into the second half a Gordon corner found Bain and his header came back off the bar before the ball was thumped to safety.

A Ramsay free kick was picked up by Butcher and his first shot was blocked before he fired the rebound narrowly wide. Longside made a change with Fulton replacing Steele.

The visitors were dealt a cruel blow in 68 minutes when a harmless shot took a wicket deflection to give McGarva no chance.

Jamieson had a good chance to restore the two-goal advantage when he was sent clear, he clipped the ball past the advancing Fraser but inches wide of the target.

McGarva made a good save from Smith at the expense of a corner, he then made a good save to deny Inglis from the corner. Smith then had a great chance to equalise from a corner but he headed the ball wide.

Longside made a second change when Ferris replaced Gordon. Ramsay weaved his way into the box but a fine tackle from Nacef.

East End equalised in the 81st minute with another bizzare goal when Jordan Laing saw his shot go through a ruck of players and looped over McGarva.

A Ramsay corner found Carr at the back post but he couldn’t get the ball on target.

The home side took the lead in 88 minutes when a ball to the back post was met by Daniel Thomson to head home.

A minute later they increased their lead when Bain fouled Reid in the box and Ryan Smith made no mistake from the spot.

Jordan Reid completed the scoring when he beat two players before firing past McGarva.

This was hugely dissappointing for Longside who should have had the game wrapped up in the first hour with the chances they had.

But in the closing half hour there was only one team who wanted to win badly enough and that was East End.

Longside’s next game is at home this Friday against Fraserburgh Utd in the PMAC group First Division East with a 7.45pm kick-off.

LONGSIDE: McGarva, Dyce, Weir, Carr, Bain, Davidson, Gordon, Steele, Butcher, Jamieson and Ramsay. Subs: Fulton, Parsons, Ironside, Donald and Ferris.
