LONGSIDE served up a very convincing victory at Forres on Saturday.

The visitors totally dominated this game and should have scored a few more in addition to their five-goal tally.

The management duo of Porter and Smith deserve some of the plaudits this week as they have certainly transformed this team from a few months ago and this was their fourth straight win.

In the opening minute the home side were awarded a free kick just outside the box, McIvor’s kick was easily saved by Duffy.

Longside were awarded a free kick at the other end 25 yards out, Campbell’s strike hit the wall and went out for a corner which was followed by another corner, Porter’s kick was headed down by Craik for Paul Campbell to rifle into the net.

Henderson got on the end of an Angus cross but his header was saved easily by Duffy. The Longside keeper then made a fine save to deny McIvor.

Cardno was sent clear after some great play from Usher but he pulled his shot wide. Cardno then turned provider when he set up a chance for Campbell but he too dragged his shot wide.

The visitors doubled their advantage in 27 minutes when Ross Cardno sent a 25-yard screamer high into the net. Ross had a shot for Forres but his effort went straight to Duffy. At the other end Usher had a shot but in was saved by Bremner. A Porter corner was well taken by Bremner. A Beck corner for Forres was fisted clear by Duffy. Longside scored a third a minute into the second half when the Forres defence failed to clear a Porter corner, Sean Butcher was first to react firing the ball into the net. Henderson was unlucky when he saw his fierce shot come back off the bar before being cleared.

Whyte did well on the right before finding Cardno who in turn found Porter, but his angled shot went over the bar. Whyte was again the thick of the action minutes later when he passed the ball inside to Butcher, his shot from the edge of the box was saved by Bremner at full stretch.

Just before the hour Longside made a double substitution replacing Donaldson and Usher with Black and Marchi. Substitute Marchi’s first touch was a header into the path of Campbell and his shot was deflected for a corner which came to nothing.

The visitors scored a fourth in 68 minutes when a superb flick from Marchi sent Sean Butcher on his way and he coolly rounded the keeper before stroking the ball into the net. Seven minutes later David Black headed home a Porter cross from close range.

Longside passed up another couple of good scoring opportunities when firstly Marchi sent Porter clear on the left but his cross was just too far in front of Campbell and then minutes later Campbell clashed with the keeper in the box and the loose ball fell to Butcher but he fired his shot wide of the target with the goal at his mercy.

This Saturday Longside are at home to Banchory St.Ternan in the Superleague (ko 2pm).
