There was a much-improved performance from Longside on Saturday as they beat Fraserburgh United 9-1 in the openign round of the GA Engineering cup.
They made the dream start by opening the scoring in the third minute, Danton won the ball when Sean Butcher slotted home.
Two minutes later Butcher doubled his tally when he was in the right place again to slot the ball past Del Testa.
Longside scored a third in the 14th minute when Little evaded two challenges before sending Hamish Burr clear to score.
On the half hour mark Longside scored a fourth with a brilliant solo effort from Burr when he glided past two defenders before steering the ball into the corner of the net.
The home side capitalised on some slack defending early in the second half when the Longside defence had two chances to get the ball clear but Andrew Ritchie dispatched the ball past MacDonald. The home side lost the services of Ross and Noble when the two of them clashed heads in the box, both were taken off injured and replaced by Reid and Heatherwick. The visitors scored a fifth in 61 minutes when Ben Danton raced onto a long clearance to smash the ball past the helpless keeper.
Cameron Buchan scored in 66 minutes when he fired a 30 yard shot into the corner of the net. Minutes later MacDonald made a brilliant stop to turn away a Reid shot. Whyte sent Danton clear in 73 minutes and he slipped the ball past the advancing keeper.
Six minutes later Whyte found Danton again with a superb pass and he drove it past Del Testa to complete his hat-trick. Butcher completed the scoring and notched his hat-trick when he rolled the ball past the keeper after good work from Duncan.
This Saturday Longside are at home to Banks O’Dee in the PMAC group Superleague ko 2pm.
