Late East End double breaks Hearts

Buchanhaven Hearts had East End as visitors in a Morrison Trophy Group match at the weekend.

Hearts took the game to East End straight away and a good Hastie cross saw no takers in the East End six-yard box.

The home side won a free kick just outside the box and Ballard’s attempt was saved by Leiper.

Hearts failure to score in the first half was punished b East End who scored in the 46th minute when MBarki crashed in on a loose ball to shoot past Gatt.

And it got worse when Sime gave the ball away and Fraser scored to make it 2-0.

Hearts got back into the game when Ryan Duncan was hauled to the ground by Rennie and Dane Ballard scored from the spot.

They equalised when Duncan scrambled the ball home after Leiper had saved his shot.

East End were rattled but Hearts couldn’t get a third and the visitors scored twice in the final five minutes through Fraser.

This was a game Hearts should have had sewn up before half time, but they paid the penalty for giving away goals to an East End side who barely threatened but took their chances.

Hearts really didn’t deserve to loose but now look to their next game which is against Fraserburgh United in the league with a 1.30pm kick-off.
