Hearts prove hungry for victory

BUCHANHAVEN Hearts made the long journey to Forres to take on local Thistle in the first game of 2013 on Saturday.

Hearts started well and Ballard was through but Bremner narrowed the angle and forced the corner from which Hearts went ahead. It was Forbes who took the kick and Lewis Brown and Bremner both went for the ball and the Forres keeper dropped it and James Watson was first to react to shoot home to put Hearts 0-1 ahead.

A glorious move from Hearts saw Fraser find Ballard whose dummy saw Scott McLeod through but with Bremner to beat the ball hit a bobble and he miscued his shot over the bar.

Hearts continued to dominate but were caught with the sucker punch when they didn’t clear and gave Daley a chance and he took it and shot past Bennet who nearly stopped the shot but power was too much and it was game on 1-1.

Hearts took the lead again when Kris Keith won the ball in midfield and played a pass to Dane Ballard who beat Bremner with ease to put Hearts 2-1 up.

Bennet then touched a Ross shot onto the bar to keep it at 1-2 as half time approached

Forres came out looking for the equaliser and Bennett clawed the ball away to stop the game becoming level but Hearts controlled the game after this and Dane Ballard latched onto a clearance from Keith and rounded Bremner to put Hearts 1-3 ahead.

Hearts were finding it all to easy to break and Ballard again was through but Bremner this time saved his shot.

Hearts subbed Brown for Watson and they continued to press with Fraser and Forbes winning balls in midfield with ease to create chances and Scott McLeod fired over from a good position.

Hearts’ good play was rewarded as they made it 1-4 when Abolehassam broke and while Bremner saved his shot, Ballard was alert and followed up to score his hat trick.

Bremner was then sent off for dissent for protesting the goal with the referee as Hearts ran out comfortable winners.

This was a good display from Hearts with no failures throughout the team as the attitude, hunger and desire was first class as they never let Forres into the match on which was a heavy pitch.

Their next game is away to Portgordon Victoria in a league encounter on Saturday with a kick-off time of 1.30pm.
