The first final of the season was contested between Methlick and Hatton.

The match kicked-off with the New Deer pitch in excellent condition and it was Hatton who created the first chance when Bain was played in on the left but he scuffed his shot wide of goals.

At the other end a slick move by Methlick found Garry Finnie on the edge of the box and he laid off to Gracey and the big striker’s shot went narrowly past the keeper’s post.

On 28 minutes Hatton took the lead against the run of play when a Thomson in-swinging corner was headed home by Craig Malcolm.

On 37 minutes Hatton doubled their lead when another Thomson corner was met by Jamie McNeil to fire home.

The second half kicked of with Hatton in ascendance and a Bain snap shot went just over the bar. For the next 15 minutes defences were on top and there were few chances being created.

With 11 minutes remaining James Bain sealed the cup when he was set clear on the left, he cut in and dispatched the ball low into the corner of the net. The match ended with Hatton running out comfortable winners. The officials controlled the game well which was played in a good spirit.
