Gutsy performance from Hearts

GA Cup Round 1

B’haven Hearts

Dyce Juniors

Buchanhaven Hearts took on Superleague leaders Dyce Juniors in a GA Cup first round match at Raemoss Park at the weekend.

Opening exchanges were even then a long ball into the Dyce box saw Douglas lean into James Bain and a penalty was awarded, however it was saved.

Dyce wasted a good chance when a Thomson cross was headed past at the back post by Gordon.

Dyce were then awarded a penalty when Jason Bain was adjudged to have tugged Murray, however it was another penalty saved.

Dyce went 1-0 up when Hearts didn’t clear well and the ball fell to Mark Bartlett who shot past Grant.

Bain then had a chance to equalise when he latched onto a through ball but lobbed over the bar from a good position.

Dyce had the wind behind them in the second half and started putting pressure on the Hearts defence but good defending kept the eager forwards at bay.

Hearts equalised when Grame Robinson turned outside the Dyce box and hit a screamer from 22 yards giving McKenzie no chance.

Dyce got the winner in 86 minutes when a long ball found Napier whose cutback was shot home by Steven Bartlett for the winner.

This was a gutsy performance from Hearts who matched their opponents well. The commitment was superb and hopefully will continue.

Their next game is in the Regional Cup when the team will be away to Buckie Rovers with a 2pm kick-off.
