Victoria Coaches Cup Semi Final-A Tale of two halfs.

Elizabethan Link Up were facing Invercairn United for a place in the Victoria Coaches Cup Final. Link up had the first chance when a Bannerman free kick found its way to McKay but he shot wide of the goal.

At the other end Forman was played in on goal but dragged his shot wide of the goals. Andy McKay earned Link Up a penalty on 25 minutes when he was fouled in the penalty box and up stepped Steven Crawford whose shot was fired into the top corner. Keeper Pirie did get a hand to it but couldn’t keep it out. The last chance of the first half fell to Gall but his shot was well saved by Sinclair.

In the second half Invercairn were beginning to dominate the play and came close with Forman hitting the outside of the post. With the pressure mounting Invercairn drew level when Arron Gall headed home from a crossed ball.

A Forman corner was headed against his own post by Garden then cleared. The away side took the lead after Tait played a 1:2 with Forman down the left and then skipped past his marker and fired over Sinclair in the home goal.

Link Up’s Kevin Buchan did have a long range effort just over the bar. Substitute Alexander Stephen came off the bench to fire home the away side’s third goal with a cool finish from 10 yards. Link up then pushed forward leaving gaps at the back. Bannerman had a free kick deflected out for a corner which was easily cleared. They did manage to pull one back with a goal from Clint Cassie but it was Invercairn United that go through to the Final.
