New Deer entertained St Drostans in their first home match of the season and took the lead after just three minutes.

A passback fell short of the away keeper and Barry Crighton nipped in and found the bottom corner of the net.

Thomas Martin made a goalline clearance from a Robbie shot to prevent New Deer going further ahead.

Shortly after Gary Thomson doubled the home side lead on 30 minutes when he headed in from a long throw by Crighton. A cross from Alan Anderson was headed goalwards from Greening but Crowther saved on the line.

Jimmy Ritchie made it 3-0 when he beat the offside trap and went past his marker and his shot went in off the post. A long ball forward by Crighton then had the away side keeper caught in two minds and Ritchie went in and headed over the keeper and into an empty net.

St Drostans did pull a goal back when Anderson was played in on goal and drilled his shot under the keeper. New Deer added a fifth in the last minute when Scott Watt handled the ball on the goal line. After he was sent off Jimmy Ritchie lashed home his third goal of the match to complete the scoring.

Panasonic Tavern were home to Faithlie United and the away side took the lead after four minutes when Rory Campbell headed in a Daniel Reid corner. Hossack had a 20-yard shot which went just past the post.

Fraser Anderson doubled the away side lead with an 18-yard drive in to the corner of the net. A Shepard cross was knocked on by Gary Clark and Sandison headed across goal but Buchan pushed on to the bar and the ball came back and landed into the keepers hands.

A Faithlie break by Sandison who took on Brown then he squared the ball across to Gary Clark and his shot went in off the post. Fraser Anderson hit a 25 yard shot which went in at the bottom corner of the net. A fifth goal came from a 25 yard free kick went round the wall and into the net. John McKinnon completed the scoring in the 75 minute. Panasonic finished the match with 10 players after Josh Abolgahesm was sent off for receiving two cautions.

Clinton Thistle were hosts against the much-improved Cheers FC. The match ended in a six-goal thriller with each side getting a point. Scoring for the home side were Gilbert Patterson Jnr with a brace and Daniel Kewley and replying an excellent hatrick from Scott Falconer. Elizabethan Link Up were up against St Combs and it was the away side that took the lead after 12 minutes with a goal from Eric John West, McIntosh added a second when he scored at the second attempt. It was 3-0 when a cross was sung across by JJ Sim and Neil Taylor headed home.

St Combs’ fourth must be a contender for goal of the season when Neil Taylor lashed home a 30-yard free kick into the roof of the net. Into the second half and Neil Taylor got his hatrick when he was played in by JJ Sim and cooly slotted home. Nicky Tait added a sixth goal, Joe Dolman hit a seventh and Tait got his second to complete the scoring.

Bellslea opened their league campaign against Mormond Thistle and it was the home side that took all three points with a 3-2 win. Scoring for the home side were Stewart Whyte (2) and Jordan Clark and replying for Mormond were Ross Brown and Michael Cardno.
