Football: Hearts take all three points against Lewis

A fully deserved win for Hearts who played very well, especially in the first half.

Hearts started well and forced a corner early on which Davidson took and Clark headed wide from a good position.

Hearts were playing well and Ligertwood and Davidson combined and Davidson’s cross was held by Wosak in the Lewis goal.

Martin Paul was just wide with an effor when Hearts did not clear a corner. Hearts took the lead when Ligertwood won the ball then threaded it through to Dane Ballard who cooly shot past Wozak to put Hearts 1-0 up.

Hearts had their tails up and Kenny Mair broke but his shot was off target.

Lewis went down to 10 men when Pirie was sent off for throwing the ball at a Hearts player.

Hearts did not start the second half well and were getting pushed back and conceded a penalty.

Jamie Clark was adjudged to have fouled Paul and was sent off as the last man. Nathan Greig scored from the spot to make it 1-1.

Kenny Mair had the chance to put hearts in front but just pulled his shot wide. Then Hearts went ahead with a tremendous goal from Alex Davidson as he beat three men and fired a right footed shot giving Wosak no chance and made it 2-1.

Then Lewis equalised when Bruce was caught in possession and Fraser ran through to shoot past Fuerst.

Fraser and young Jordan Clark got involved in a tangle just after the goal and the young Hearts defender was sent off and Fraser booked.

Hearts were still creating chances andBallard should have scored when put through by Mair but he shot wide.

Then Wosak pulled off a wonderful stop from a Robinson shot.

Lewis were also down to nine men when Martin Paul was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Hearts subbed Robinson with Watson.

They then won the game in injury time when Alex Davidson kept the ball well to find Ballard whose cross was put into the net by substitute James Watson to give Hearts the three points and a welcome victory.

Hearts’ next game is away to Cruden Bay on Saturday. Kick off is 1.30pm.
