Fired-up Hearts fire eight passed Sunnybank

A spirited home performance from Buchanhaven Hearts saw them leapfrog visitors Sunnybank on Saturday.

In a devastating display at Raemoss Park the hosts fired eight past ‘bank to earn the three points.

Hearts blasted into early action in the Juniors Division East match with Dane Ballard testing Clark with a fine shot.

They kept up the pressure and were rewarded when a cross from Mair was handled in the box by Middler.

Ballard’s penalty was saved by the keeper only for the striker to score from the rebound.

Hearts kept up the pressure and Ballard earned his second from close range after good work from Davidson.

The home side were now in full control and Ligertwood slotted a great ball to Ballard who beat the Sunnybank defece and squared for Alex Davidson to slot home to make it 3-0.

With their tails up there was no stopping Hearts and Kenny Mair raced down the right, cut inside and released a tremendous shot which flew past Clark into the top corner.

Four-up and Hearts kept up the pressure - Alex Davidson beating Chalmers and chipping the ball to Ballard who headed home for his hat-trick.

Home keeper Fuerst was a spectator - Sunnybank’s Watson only managing to send a shot over the bar.

To round off a magnificent first half, Ballard celebrated his fourth when he cooly slotted the ball past the keeper after the visiting defence was opened up once again.

Sunnybank had the wind behind them in the second half and went looking to regain a bit of pride.

But it was Hearts who looked more the more likely to score with Ballard coming close after he beat Milne and rounded the keeper only to nudge the ball to far in front and earn an injury in the process.

But he made amends and made it 7-0 when he was played in by Ligertwood and fired past Clark.

Sunnybank clawed a goal back when a shot by Matthew Carrol found the bottom corner.

But back came Hearts with Michael Bruce firing off the bar.

They did earn number eight, however, when Mair and Ballard combined and the latter’s cross was hit home at the back post by Jordan Abolghassem.

A great team effort all round, but star of the show was undoubtedly Dane Ballard with his five goals - though Kenny Mair’s strike was pick of the bunch.

Hearts would like to thank A.C. Plumbing for sponsoring the match - they picked Dane as man of the match.

Their next game is on Saturday away against Bridge of Don Thistle at 2pm.
