Depleted Hearts side struggle

BUCHANHAVEN Hearts made the long journey to Inverness at the weekend to take on title favourites Inverness City.

Hearts struggled to get a side together due to call offs and work commitments.

The pitch was barely playable after heavy rain and Hearts took the lead in three minutes when Ryan Duncan intercepted a pass and passed to Dane Ballard who shot past the goalkeepr to put Hearts 0-1 ahead.

Hearts almost doubled their lead when Powell narrowly headed past from a Hart corner.

Hearts were holding their own and McLean made a good run down the right and his cross was cleared.

Inverness then equalised from a ball down the left which was crossed by Miller and Thomson tapped it home the equaliser.

They then made it 2-1 when Sanderson who was standing in an offside position was allowed by the ref to carry on and he shot past Simpson. Hearts then hit the bar just on half time through Steven Powell.

After the break, Dane Ballard beat the defence to a through ball and his shot went agonisingly just past the goal.

Inverness broke up the park and scored from another tap in from Fraser, making it 3-1 and then made it 4-1 when Sanderson got down the right and past to Miller, who yet again was standing in an offside position and the ref again let the goal stand much to the dismay of the Hearts players.

Hearts pulled a goal back when Cunningham knocked a cross to the on rushing Glendinning who rifled the ball past Young.

Jamie Clark missed a great chance to make it 4-3 when he couldn’t connect from close range, then City broke up the park and Sanderson lobbed Simpson to make it 5-2.

City then made it 6-2 late on when again when Fraser scored.

A depleted Hearts squad gave as good as they got but three goals shouldn’t have stood as they were yards offside, which gave them a mountain to climb..

Their next game is at home to Deveronside in Division 1, with the kick-off at 2pm.
