Contenders for goal of the season as Bellslea thrash Rosehearty

Bellslea faced Rosehearty Thistle in a league game and the home side went on to win scoring seven without reply with some contenders for goal of the season.

Jamie Buchan lobbed the keeper from 35 yards, Lewis Tait scored with a 25-yard free kick, Arron Gall hit a brilliant 35-yard shot into the roof of the net, and Jordan Clark hit another 20-yard shot which found the net.

The other goals came from Jamie Buchan with his second, Daryl Allan and Jonathan Garden.

Bellslea player John Ross was taken to hospital when he clashed with a team mate and has a bad eye injury which will keep him sidelined for a while.

St Combs entertained league champions New Pitsligo and Christie had the first chance for the visitors but Gordon made a good save.

At the other end Tait had an effort from the edge of the box well saved by Alexander. Michael Stephen came close but his shot was parried over the bar by Gordon.

The home keeper had another fine save at the feet of Christie when he was in on goal.

The home side took the lead on 46 minutes when Tait made a good run down the left and he played in John James Sim and he fired home the opener. Tait was again involved with the home side’s goal when he crossed for Neil Taylor to fire home.

This was a fine win for the home side with a good all round performance.

St Drostans faced league leaders Faithlie United. St Drostans started the better but couldn’t create any real chances.

Faithlie took the lead a ball was crossed in and Nathan Sandison finished from six yards.

Rory Campbell came close to doubling the away side lead but his header came back off the post.

Ral in the home goal made a brilliant save to deny Anderson. Garden crossed to Whyte who missed an open goal from inside the six-yard box.

MacDonnell made an excellent tackle to deny Faithlie another goal.

A Gary Clark cross came back off the post and Shepard fired in a drive from the edge of the box and Ral pushed round the post.

A rare chance for the home side saw Summers in on goal but he fired well over the bar.

In the second half Coyle came to the away side’s rescue after he made a fine stop from Summers. Anderson doubled the away side’s lead when he lobbed the home keeper from 25 yards out.

Faithlie were awarded a penalty on 70 minutes and Ryan Whyte blasted high over the bar.

St Drostans had the last chance of the game when Summers crossed for Watt but his header was saved by Coyle.

Faithlie young ones did miss quite a few chances to get more goals but there was some poor finishing.

In the Gordon Leask Memorial Cup quarter-final, New Pitsligo entertained St Combs for the second time in four days but this time it was a semi-final place up for grabs.

The away side took the lead on 14 minutes when Nicky Tait met a cross and his header found the net. The home side drew level when Whyte played a long ball forward and it came off Darren Noble and into the net for an own goal.

In the Terry Sutton Memorial Cup quarter-final, New Deer played Mormond Thistle and it was a very comfortable win for the home side as they ran out 8-0 winners.

Barry Crighton gave them the lead on three minutes, Scott Milne, Willie Robbie and Graham Pirie scored another three before half time.

In the second half Scott Milne, Willie Robbie and a brace from Lewis Tait finished the scoring.

In another quarter-final, Cheers faced Clinton Thistle and it ended in a 5-2 win for the visitors.

The winning goals came from Gilbert Patterson netted a brace and one each for Willie Noble, Robert Buchan and Matthew Noble and for the home side was a brace from Scott Falconer.
