The Scottish SPCA are appealing for information after a cat was abandoned in a car park in Peterhead.

Scotland’s animal welfare charity was alerted on Wednesday June 29 when the black cat was discovered at Prince Street.

The feline is now in the care of the charity’s animal rescue and rehoming centre in Drumoak where he has been named Joe.

Inspector Fiona Shand said, “Joe is an un-neutered male who was found in a pet carrier at around 5.30am.

“Someone who works nearby spotted him and saw the police going by so alerted them. The police then took Joe to the local station before alerting us.

“Unfortunately there is no CCTV pointing to the area and we are asking anyone who has any information to contact us.”

Joe, who is doing well in care, is believed to be around two-years-old and may have been kept as an indoor cat.

Inspector Shand said: “If anyone is interested in offering Joe a loving home after his ordeal they can contact our centre.”

Anyone with information or interested in rehoming Joe should contact the Scottish SPCA on 03000 999 999.
