While the rest of Peterhead may be gearing up for the start of the town’s annual Scottish Week, residents of Wyndwell Care Home have just finished their ‘Ither Scottish Week’ celebrations.
For the second year running, the staff and residents of the Harbour Street home staged their very own version of Scottish Week and held a daily programme of events.
The week began with the official opening ceremony and the crowning of this year’s Ither Scottish Week Queen, resident Janette Elder, and princess, staff member Becky Thomson.
There then followed Highland Games and music from a guest piper.
Tuesday saw a coffee morning including a sale of work, while in the afternoon students from the Serena Wilson School of Dance entertained with a variety of dances.
Midweek the residents enjoyed a quiz by Bob Davidson and a barbecue and garden party, while on Thursday there was a beetle drive and knees-up entertainment from Bob Dunlop.
The week’s fun culminated on Friday with Scottish prize bingo and a closing ceremony which involved a piper and a residents’ sing-a-long.
