WORK on upgrading the roof, windows and toilets at Crimond School is set to begin early next year.
Members of the Buchan area committee will be asked to approve a tender for the works when they meet in Peterhead later today (Tuesday).
Councillors will be asked to give approval to a tender of £750,222.43 submitted by Bancon Construction Ltd.
The upgrade works were originally put forward in the overall Planned Maintenance report submitted to the April Policy and Resources Committee with an estimated cost of £520,000.
However, giventhe extent and disruption that the roof and window replacement works wouldcause, it was determined that the internal decoration and the toilets within the school should be upgraded at the same time to prevent further disruption to the school at a later date.
The new roof build-up will comprise a vapour check layer, thermal insulation and a single skin PVC roofing membrane.
The windows will be double glazed with timber frames, the frames being clad externally with aluminium.
The upgraded toilets will provide a clean andenhanced environment for the pupils;
The works on site will commence week beginning January 7, 2013 and will be complete week ending May 31.
