Police Scotland are warning shoppers to be vigilant after con artists pocketed a three-figure sum of money.
During the afternoons of Saturday, April 12 and Saturday, April 19 within the town centre, customers were offered items including mobile phones, tablets and laptops at bargain prices.
The fraudsters took cash payment for these goods but handed over holdalls containing low value items such as catalogues or bottles of water.
Police Scotland are keen to trace two males within a Blue Ford Mondeo seen in the Peterhead area at the time.
Theyare described as Scottish, with one having a distinctive V-shape scar on one of his cheeks.
PC Stuart Stevenson said: “We are warning people to be wary against this type of crime in particular where the goods offered seem unusually cheap.”
