Volunteers are sought for Strichen group

THE Ritchie Hall and Strichen Gala Committee is looking for new volunteers to join its ranks.

Unfortunately, due to work commitments, the committee lost a valuable member at its recent annual general meeting.

The committee has been set up to oversee the financial running and organisation of the hall.

A spokesperson for the groups told the Buchanie: “We have now managed to get an enthusiastic and reliable hall keeper and cleaner who oversee the day-to-day running of the hall.

“The hall has exciting times ahead of it having recently been awarded £85,532 from LEADER funding, which will help in the construction of an extension to the existing building.

“The extension will allow for changing facilities for sports and football to be separate from the facilities for hall sser groups, ensuring that the hall meets the wider needs of the community.”

The spokesperson said the kitchen area and equipment will be upgraded to ensure that it is fit for purpose and the decor and lighting will be modernised to make the facility more inviting for income generating hires such as weddings and private hires.

She continued: “If anyone from Strichen and the surrounding district would be interested in helping keep our committee alive then please do come along to one of our meetings or feel free to get in touch.”

Anyone interested is asked to call Wilma on (01771) 622025 or Andrea on (01771) 637355.

“We do not ask for a lot of your time as we meet only once a month on the first Wednesday of each month at 7.30pm,” she said. “We try to hold only a few fundraisers a year but are lucky in the fact that the hall income on a day to day basis keeps it running smoothly.”

Meanwhile, the committee is holding an evening of pampering, gifts and crafts on Friday, November 16, from 7pm to 9.30pm.

There will be various stalls including The Body Shop, Berry Scrumptious, Kardznmore, Belle-Rose Creations, Energetix Jewellery, Cinderella’s Hair, Nails by Lia, Kaga Gifts, Reflexology by Angela, Diet Directionand lots more.

Tickets are priced at £5, which includes refreshements and nibbles, and are available from Wilma or Andrea on the above numbers.
