US man seeking descendants of Keith Webster

An American man is keen to reunite a photo album with the family of an Old Deer man.

Chas Miller of Ohio has been trying to find the descendants of Keith Webster who was born in 1849 at Old Deer.

At one time he lived around Laurencekirk and his parents were Robert and Anne (nee Slessor).

Keith was married to Margaret Webster.

The couple had eight children - Keith, George, Robert, Edward, John, Margaret, Hellen and Anne.

In a letter to the Buchanie, Mr Miller says: “His son Keith was married to Margolie Webster who died in 1907.

“They had a duaghter, Margret, who was born in 1906 and who remained in Scotland.”

Mr Miller says his sons, Edward and Keith, came to the US in 1909 and 1912.

“I have recently come into possession of an album which belonged to Edward,” he said.

“It is full of pictures and many postcards that he received both in Scotland and America.

“I would think that some of the family are still living and would love to have this album, but I have no way of finding them.

“I have been to Scotland twice, most recently in 2012. My mother’s family (Wallace), originated in Scotland.”

If anyone has any information which may help Mr Miller, then contact the Buchan Observer at news@buchanobserver.com or give us a call on (01779) 472184.

We will pass the details on to him.

He adds: “Any help that anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated.”
