Prisoner van overturns on North East road

A G4S prisoner van has overturned on a North East road causing delays for drivers.

Ambulance and police are on the scene at the A952 Fraserburgh to Peterhead road near Cortes. There is said to be minor injuries.

Police received a call around 8.30 this morning.

Traffic is currently being diverted onto the A90 while the van is recovered and removed.

The escort vehicle was travelling from Fraserburgh police custody unit to Aberdeen Sheriff Court.

Head of operations for G4S, Willie Galloway, court escorting told the Herald that there were four people in the vehicle: “One prisoner and three G4S colleagues.

“We do not believe that anyone has sustained serious injuries but all four have been taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary as a precautionary measure.”
