Mintlaw man (71), dies in two-car collision at Lonmay

A Mintlaw man has died following a two-car smash on the A90 between Lonmay and Fraserburgh.

Philip Bremner (71), died following the collision, which happened around 3.15pm on Thursday .

The collision involved a silver coloured Volkswagen Jetta and a black coloured Nissan Qashqai.

Mr Bremner had been driving the Volkswagen Jetta. The 28-year-old male driver of the Nissan Qashqai sustained relatively minor injuries.

Commenting on the incident, Sergeant Neil Morrison, Road Policing Department, said: “Losing a loved one in such a traumatic way is extremely harrowing and our thoughts are with Mr Bremner’s family at this difficult time.

“Enquiries are at a very early stage and I am extremely grateful to those motorists who stopped at the scene and offered assistance prior to the arrival of the emergency services. I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the collision and who has not yet come forward to do so as soon as possible.”
