The RNLI Peterhead Lifeboat ‘The Misses Robertson of Kintail’ was calledby Aberdeen Coastguard at 2.50 pm on Monday, October 13 to assist an angling boat ‘the Puffin’ with two persons on board, which was disabled near rocks at Boddam Harbour.

Prior to the arrival of the lifeboat, a local creel boat ‘Anitra’ had taken the casualty in tow after it had lost engine power, collided with the Skerry rock and drifted perilously close to rocks near Boddam Harbour.

Under escort of the lifeboat, the ‘Anitra’ towed the ‘Puffin’ to Peterhead harbour, where temporary repairs were carried out.

The ‘Puffin’ then made its way towards the Marina across the bay when the gremlins struck again and it lost power.

The lifeboat then took the casualty in tow and towed it to the marina. The lifeboat was stood down and returned to its berth at 4.50 p.m.
