The RNLI Peterhead Tamar Lifeboat ‘The Misses Robertson of Kintail’ was requested to launch on Tuesday, August 11 at 8.40pm with its volunteer crew, to assist a disabled 45ft yacht.

Two people were on board the ‘Ariel’, which had fouled its propeller two nautical miles east of Scotstown Head.

The Peterhead lifeboat arrived on the scene of the casualty at approximately 9.03pm.

The lifeboat crew cleared the rope from the propeller, and the boat then towed the vessel to Peterhead Bay marina.

The lifeboat returned to its berth at Peterhead Harbour, at approximately 10.50 pm.

The occupants of the yacht praised the RNLI service by saying it was “very quick, very competent, and very friendly”.

Peterhead Lifeboat is always interested to hear from anyone wishing to join the fundraising team, and the crew.
