POLICE and firefighters were called to St. Fergus Gas Terminal on Thursday after a gas leak was reported.
Total E&P UK Limited confirmed that at 1.10pm on Thursday a hydrocarbon leak occurred in the Phase 3 section of the terminal.
A spokeswoman for the oil giant said: “The situation was immediately brought under control, with the affected section being shutdown and depressurised.
“All personnel on site were called to muster and accounted for. All non-essential personnel were then released for the remainder of the day. Grampian Fire Service and Grampian Police were mobilised as per standard emergency response procedures, but no action was required and they were stood down shortly after. Other relevant authorities were also informed.”
A full investigation into the cause of the leak will now be undertaken.
