A Mintlaw man got a little help from a Saturday night television programme recently when he proposed to his girlfriend.
Donald Allan was in Edinburgh at the end of last month at the same time as the Ant & Dec Supercomputer.
People were asked to audition in front of the Supercomputer and show off a special talent for a chance to win a trip for two to New York.
So Donald, who originally hails from Longside, sang ‘Donald Fars yer Troosers’ while wearing his kilt.
The Supercomputer then asked him to perform a number of silly tasks including juggling haggis, eating a Tunnocks teacake with no hands, flipping pancakes from a pair of flippers and much more.
It was then that Donald asked the Supercomputer for a little help.

Even if he didn’t get through to win the tickets, Donald’s plan all along was to propose to his girlfriend, Julie.
Having provided the Supercomputer with the engagement ring, it duly dropped the ring in front of the crowd and Donald went down on one knee and asked Julie to marry him.
The crowd went crazy, and to top it off the Supercomputer rewarded the pair with the tickets to fly off to New York in April!
Things got even better for the pair when, the following weekend, they were invited down to Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway live show.
There they were congratulated on national television on their engagement, making it a truly memorable occasion for them both.
Commenting, Donald said: “I was really nervous because I was going to propose.
“I never expected to win the holiday to New York - it was all about proposing to Julie.
“There are no words to describe how excited I was when Julie said yes and when we won the tickets.
“It was an overwhelming experience.”
