Members of Peterhead Camera Club have been enjoying success in a variety of external competitions.

Andrew Simpson had his photograph of Deer Abbey chosen as one of the top 150 images for MPB Photographics ‘Winter Photo’ Competition and then only just failed to make the final short-list of 15, coming in at 18th.

More success came in the ‘Buchan at its Bonniest’ competition run by the local Buchan Heritage Society.

A clean sweep saw Wilson Cardno’s image of a ‘Storm Brewing’ over St Comb’s beach declared the winner with Andrew Simpson’s ‘Rattray Lighthouse’ second and Joan Remington third with her image of ‘Ugie Bridge.’

In addition, Kenny Buchan received a ‘Highly Commended’ and Val Wright a ‘Commended.’

Finally Kathleen Laird has made it into the top 10 in the ‘People’ category of the Sunday Post ‘Iconic Scotland’ competition.

Her image, ‘Treading The Boards’ was taken at Aberdeen Highland Games last year and depicts local dancer Duncan Slessor.

This competition is still ongoing and the winner will be chosen by public vote.

Anyone wishing to vote for Kathleen’s picture should text ‘SPOSTPIC 008’ to 84555 by March 27.

Peterhead Camera Club meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.30pm at 10 Farmers Lane. New members of all abilities are always welcome.
