Staff, volunteers and customers at the popular 2ReUse Recycling outlets have been hugely-supportive of this year’s Peterhead Gift Tree Appeal.

They have been donating food items during the past month as part of the ‘Bring a Tin’ appeal which aims to stockpile cans of meat, veg, soup and puddings as part of the wider festive food hamper initiative.

One of the most important initiatives of its kind in the North-east, the annual Gift Tree appeal provides local families and individuals across Buchan with a little bit of extra support during the festive period.

Last year a total of 285 hampers were produced for the Peterhead and Fraserburgh area which met the demand of the referral numbers and fed 1,064 people with just under 4,300 meals.

Ken Duncan of Peterhead Projects’ Here for You Partnership said: “We are delighted to have received the first batch of donated items from 2ReUse as part of the Bring a Tin appeal.

“Any shop, office, school or church can get involved in the appeal – simply download the Bring a Tin poster from the Here For You Partnership Facebook page, grab a big empty box and start collecting!”
