STRICHEN man Jim Duncan, who has been a volunteer at Strichen Park for the past 14 years, retired recently due to ill health.

Jim, of Library Gardens, was treated to a special evening at Strichen Lodge recently, at which local butcher, and ex-chair of Strichen Community Park Committee, Bert Fowlie, thanked him for his efforts.

Current committee chair, Stewart Whyte, praised Jim for his many years of labour in the park, working to improve and enhance the facilities, adding that his outstanding contributions had been very much appreciated.

The park is unique in that it is maintained by a small group of volunteers and significant improvements have been made since it was first established in 1996. It is now a firm favourite for visitorsto the area.
