Statoil to hold public exhibition on Hywind

The folk of Buchan will get the chance to find out more about the Hywind Pilot Park this week.

Statoil has made the final investment decision to build the world’s first floating wind park off the Scottish Coast.

The company will install a 30 MW wind turbine park on floating structures at Buchan Deep, 25km offshore Peterhead.

The energy will be transported to a local distribution grid in Peterhead.

The park will comprise five, 6MW floating turbines.

The pilot roject is expected to demonstrate the feasibility of multiple floating wind turbines in a region that has optimal wind conditions, a strong supply chain within oil and gas, and supportive public policies, such as enhanced support for floating offshore wind pilot parks under the Renewables Obligation (Scotland).

To provide the local community with information on the park, Statoil is holidng a public exhibition at Peterhead’s Palace Hotel on Wednesday, January 20, from 6pm to 8pm.

There will be an oral presentation at 6pm and representatives of the project will be present to answer any questions you may have.
