St Combs couple Alec and Martha Nicol of Mid Street reached a milestone 70 years of marriage recently.
Local councillor Fiona McRae dropped in to see the couple and handed over a card and flowers for them on behalf of Aberdeenshire Council.
She was accompanied on the visit by Banff & Buchan MP Eilidh Whiteford.
Mr and Mrs Nicol have three children, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren.
Commenting on their incredible milestone, Councillor McRae said: “It’s always a pleasure to officiate at Golden or Diamond Weddings for the council, but a 70th wedding anniversary is even more special.
“I very much enjoyed chatting to Mr and Mrs Nicol and wish them continued happiness in the years to come.”
Dr Whiteford added: “Incredibly, Mr and Mrs Nicol informed me that this is not the first point in time in their family history when the family tree has spanned five generations at once.
“It was a delight to meet Mr and Mrs Nicol and hear all about their family, including their great great-grandchildren.
“I congratulate them on reaching this milestone anniversary.”
