A football fan from Peterhead who is set to take on a cycle challenge across Scotland has received support from a number of SPFL clubs.

Dons fan Martin Bagshaw, 29, will visit each Scottish Premier Football League stadium in the country, starting with Balmoor on Friday, July 3.

Martin will take on the challenge for stillbirth and neonatal death charity, SANDS, in memory of his best friends Mark and Lisa’s son Archie, who was born sleeping on Boxing Day.

In preparation for the cycle, Martin has been going to the gym as much as he can and has lost three stones.

Speaking to the Buchanie, he said: “We have a fundraiser arranged for Friday, June 5 at the Buchanhaven Hearts Social Club.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to Lynne Milne and Jenny Wedderburn for donating the venue to us.”

“Annie Moon will be there for an evening of clairvoyance and tickets are £15.

“We have already had a hamper donated to us from Morrisons Peterhead which we raffled off and raised £250.”

His next raffle includes 100 Aberdeen Football Club players past and present.

Players will be drawn to decide the winners of prizes including a signed Aberdeen Football Club top and goalie gloves, both personally donated by the club’s goalkeeper, Jamie Langfield.

Martin has also received raffle items including signed tops from Hearts, Hamilton, Dundee United, Motherwell, Celtic, Rangers and Partick Thistle.

Martin added: “Our targets have been smashed so we are now going for £10,000.”
