The choir performed an excellent variety of songs and their appearance on the night was very much appreciated and enjoyed by everyone.

As well as the Lochpots Primary School Choir, a song or two came from Bill Gray who was also compere for the evening.

The judges were Dr Eilidh Whiteford and councillor Stephen Smith, accompanied by Jean McKinnon who is one of the committee members.

All three agreed that the talent was first class but the judging was very hard.

The junior competitors were Evie Wilson, Heidi Wilson, Nadia Raduncheva, Owen Thomson, Rachel Havlin, and Rio Findlay.

Rachel was awarded first place for her fiddle playing, Nadia was second and Owen came third, both with Doric Verse.

In the Senior Section, lovely singing from Holly Strathdee of Keith took her into first place, Lesley Nicol from Rothes on accordion came second and Natasha Cruden of New Pitsligo on piano came third.

They were very closely followed by Stuart Davidson on fiddle and Iona Fyfe for her Doric verse.

Overall the excellent performances from all the competitors on stage lead to a very enjoyable evening for a much appreciative audience.

The next meeting of the Buchan Heritage Society takes place at Longside Parish Church Hall on Wednesday, October 15 at 7.30pm, where members will be entertained by the Aberdeen Strathspey and Reel Society.
