Sheena Irvine has worked for Morrisons in Peterhead for 32 years and has always loved being able to help people and support charities.

In 2013 Sheena took on the extra role of representing Morrisons as a Community Champion, which involves supporting local causes and Morrisons’ national charity partner, Sue Ryder.

“I love being able to help people, groups and charities whether it be by donating a raffle, giving a bag pack slot or raising money for our Charity of the Year, Sue Ryder,” said Sheena. “When we have a charity fundraiser in store, I give it my best shot to try and make it as successful as I can, along with the great colleagues that I work with.

“I totally love my role as a Community Champion - long may it continue.’’

Since the charity partnership began in February 2014, Sheena and her colleagues have organised a host of fundraising challenges for Sue Ryder including collection days, fun activities and raffles.

‘There’s great team spirit at our store. I just need to have a raffle book in my hand and the staff help,” said Sheena.

“In August we did a static cycle challenge ‘To the Moon’ which raised £2500 for Sue Ryder,” she added.

So far, Morrisons’ ‘Proud to Raise a Smile’ partnership with Sue Ryder has raised more than £4.5 million. It has funded new community healthcare services, family support teams and Sue Ryder’s Online Community and Support (www.sueryder.org/support), providing incredible care to patients and their families.
