Alex Salmond spent two hours at the Ritchie Hall in his home town of Strichen on Saturday, March 7, for a special Soup and Sweet fundraiser event in aid of Five Sisters Zoo, West Lothian.

The event, which attracted craft and trade stalls from across the country, was specifically aimed at helping the animal sanctuary’s efforts to rehome four ex-circus male lions.

Speaking from Strichen on Saturday, the MSP for Aberdeenshire East commented:“It’s great to see that so many have turned out to support this locally-organised event in support of such a great national cause.

“Huge congratulations are due to the organisers for their efforts.

“ I’m sure that a significant amount of money was raised which will be greatly appreciated by the Five Sisters Zoo,” he added.

Organisers were delighted the the turnout on the day and thanked everyone for their support for this worthwhile cause.
