Organisers of Cancer Research UK’s Relay For Life Peterhead received a generous donation of £4,137.50 recently from EnQuest’s Heather Alpha Platform.

EnQuest’s Greenie Chart saw employees on three platforms choose charities to fundraise for during 2015.

For each day with no safety incidents on board the platforms, the charities were given £25.

The Heather Alpha platform raised a staggering £8,275 which was equally divided between Cancer Research UK and Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland.

Lorraine Coleman, chair of Relay For Life Peterhead said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone on the Heather Alpha platform who chose to fundraise for Cancer Research UK and who helped to raise the money.

“It means a lot to receive support from local businesses and from those who are working so hard offshore when we know times are hard in the area.”

Fiona Harvey, Cancer Research UK’s local fundraising manager for the north east of Scotland, said: “We are absolutely delighted that the Heather Alpha platform chose to fundraise for Cancer Research UK in 2015.

“The money that they have raised will help to fund a variety of research in the north east of Scotland and all over the UK to help beat cancer sooner.

Fiona added: “Cancer Research UK has made enormous progress in the fight against cancer. However, we have only been able to do this thanks to the dedication and commitment of our volunteers and supporters without whom we would not be able to fund our research.”

Cancer Research UK currently funds two research projects at the University of Aberdeen.
