Upon receiving the award, Sub Lieutenant Marleen Mowatt said: “Peterhead Sea
Cadets are one of six units encompassed within the Northern Area and each year we have an inspection of the unit which looks at the cadets’ achievements and courses they are
undertaking.

“It also looks at how the unit is working and any qualifications gained.

“We were delighted to win the Stevenson Trophy - it was a boost to the end of a tough month. It is great to get recognition from the council so we thank you.”

Petty Officer Cadet Hannah Strachan was also given a Pride of Buchan award after she was recently appointed as Navy Board Cadet for 2013

Hannah, 16, was also selected as the Navy Board Cadet for the Northern Area, a role which will see her accompany senior Royal Navy Officers and Navy Board members to official ceremonial events.

Both awards were presented by Buchan Area Committee Chair, councillor Stuart Pratt, who congratulated both recipients on their recent successes.
