A formal written proposal has been submitted by the Peterhead Bowling Club to Aberdeenshire Council for funding assistance.

The pavilion was burned down last year, with confusion arising over who was liable for the insurance as it turned out the lease had expired.

Contrary to recent reports, John Noble, joint secretary of the club, said that negotiations between the club and local authority are going well, describing them as ‘forward and positive’.

“I have been working with the council for months and we are getting something worked out,” he said.

He added that the council are awaiting land-owners Peterhead Feuars’ Managers to produce a lease before a final decision is made over available funding.
