Hunter Construction (Aberdeen) Ltd looks set to be awarded the tender for a footway reconstruction scheme on the north side of Queen Street in Peterhead.
The scheme was contained within the 2013/14 Annual Roads Maintenance Programme at an estimated cost of £46,000 which was presented for approval by the Buchan Area Committee today (Tuesday).
The normal standard for replacement footways in a town centre, outwith Conservation areas, is a bituminous surface. In discussion with the area manager and local councillors it has been agreed that a small element concrete slab finish should be employed at Queen Street. It is proposed that the works are constructed in two phases with the north side starting in May and the south side in September .
Tenders were issued to six contractors in total with Hunter Construction the preferred option.
