Tenants open day in town

TENANTS who live in Peterhead and the wider Buchan area are invited to attend an open day between 10am and 1pm this Saturday at Arbuthnot House on the wtown’s Broad Street.

Landlords and their tenants involved in organising the Tenants Open Day are Aberdeenshire Council, Aberdeenshire Housing Partnership, the Castlehill, Grampian Langstane housing associations and Tenants First Housing Cooperative (now part of the Sanctuary Group).

Doors will be open for people to drop in between 10am and 1pm with everyone invited - whether or not you are an existing tenant - and children are welcome to go along too.

This is the first local event of its kind jointly organised by tenants and staff of the social housing landlords operating across Buchan and tenants are invited to come along, have a tea or coffee, visit the various organisation stalls, and chat with staff and fellow tenants.

Along with the housing organisations, the Police, Community Wardens and Scottish Fire and Rescue will be present.

Local organisations such as The Hot Spot, CFine, Houseability, North East Scotland Credit Union and the Peterhead Litterpickers are also going to be in attendance.

There will be welfare benefits and health advice on offer, including a DVD about the Bedroom Tax, along with information on applying for social housing through the Apply4Homes Common Housing Register and information for those looking for a house exchange.

For council tenants, there will be information on the local authority’s current house refurbishment programme (including a display of kitchen units being installed locally).

Meanwhile, not to be left out, there will be a kids corner where children can do some colouring and drawing or dancing to Craig Milne’s Simply Discos while the adults meander round and chat with the organisations present.

All those completing a feedback form on the day will be entered into a prize draw for a £50 shopping voucher; £30 B&Q voucher; and various other prizes.
