Conservative MSP candidate for Banff and Buchan Coast Peter Chapman has arrived at the AECC in Aberdeen and says he is feeling “good vibes”.

Mr Chapman said: “I think we fought a very energetic campaign.

“The best campaign the Scottish Conservatives have fought in my patch for a number of years.”

He continued: “We’ll wait and see but I’m getting good vibes going around.

The candidate stated that he was hopeful that he could get in on the list on which he is placed fourth.

He said: “That’s our target.

The Conservative candidate conceded that it would be difficult to break the SNP candidate Stewart Stevenson’s hold on the constituency but that he would “be very disappointed if [he] didn’t take a chunk out of Stevenson’s majority.”

He said: “It’s all to play for.”
